I utterly despise people who use this section of their
blog to boast about their achievements and all the successes that they are, so
to break the trend, I will commence by doing the absolute opposite, describing
my drawbacks.
I, Adam (formerly Osama) Ashraf Wagdy, am as imperfect as it gets.
Basically, I am always blamed for being extremely self-centered, stereotypical,
obnoxious, overconfident, and above it all cutthroat ambitious. While I wouldn’t
claim that any of these are false, in my defense, I have an explanation to
each.
The entity I choose to blame for all my draw backs is
society! Yes, that brutal, bloody place which only dictates to us one thing,
SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST! And since when was being overambitious a drawback? Is
that even a word? Overambitious?
I was raised in the fabulous city of Dubai and it has
influenced me greatly. Being a student in a class where every student comes
from a different background has its perks, you really do grow up into a global
citizen! Nevertheless, my family relocated to Egypt just last year, after my
high school sophomore year and I can’t say this didn’t have a positive
influence on me.
In the future, I aspire to do great things in the
world. I know it won’t be through scoring the winning touchdown in an NBA match
or curing cancer but I am hoping to cure people’s souls with the magic spell of
the written word. I don’t deny I crave for fame and fortune but if there’s one thing
I learned over the years, it’s that fame won’t be handed to you on a silver
platter, and so I’m working for it. Hold on to your seat, Tina Brown, because
Adam Ashraf is coming your way.
