Five Fashion trends you
do not wanna miss!
As always,
the winter that every year commences with, holds the fashion of the year that
has passed rather than the one just started, so I won’t be discussing winter
fashion today. Conversely, I’ll be giving you tips on what’s hot and what’s not
for this spring and summer season so get the wheels on your shopping cart ready
because we’re in for some fabulous outfits!
These
tone-down outfits, designed by fashion designers, Max and Lubov Azria, seem to
be inspired by Bestselling novel, Fifty
Shades of Grey. They capture
the essence of the spring and seem very flattering to a model’s silhouette. I
suggest a black bag though instead of the portrayed creamy brown with the white
dress. I give it a six because while the leather gives an erotic feel, it cuts
down on the elegance.
2. Floral Fabulousness!
My first
reaction to that one was, “Didn’t the sixties pass?”,
but upon further and more thorough assessment, these floral, natural looks have a modern edge
that just look fabulous. Moreover, unlike the first look with leather, this one
suits all types of bodies from skinny supermodels to overweight bodies. It
brings out a feminine edge that the first look doesn’t. I would give it an 8. The
lost two goes for the fact that they wouldn’t fit any night time event or a night out in the bar and do
not show any curves.
3.
Aqua Fiesta
Designers
like Michael Kors, Donna Karan, Proenza Schouler, Tracy Resse and Charlotte
Ronson have taken the different shades of aqua for their collection this season
and they look impeccably chic! The fifty shades of blue (:p) seem to bring
about the beauty of the models perfectly and the best part is that many of the
dresses designed by said designers this time look extremely sexy without being
very streamlined still making it very applicable for the young beautiful, not
so skinny, women of the twenty-first century. I grant this one an 8 as well as
it is too casual and doesn’t accentuate the body.
Matthew Williamson, Tory Burch, Helmut Lang, Emporio Armani and Michael Kors took this look to a new level this year with
the versatility and subjectivity. It looks very formal and combines the
appropriate strict work environment with the sass that most girls want to show.
The trend is very empowering and the striped ones do more than accentuate the
model’s beauty, they also tell a story. What the look needs is the right
stylist because with this much skin showing, a mess with the styling could lead
to a very unflattering scene. The outfit seems to be inspired by Kurt Hummel’s
iconic quote, “Fashion has no gender”. The one drawback to this look is that it
only suits a niche. Who has legs like these? I would score it a 9.
4. Short Suits
5. Oversized Ruffles
Gucci, Chloe and
Givenchy took a more vibrant approach. The oversized ruffles designed hold a
certain elegance which is fitting for a cocktail party or an arts gallery
opening. For women who are not the standard size two or women who do not wanna
show too much skin, this is the optimum choice. It is extremely commercial and
the draping gives it a classy edge. I give it a straight ten!
